Accommodations:

          The meeting will be held at the Doubletree Hotel Birmingham, 808 South 20th St, Birmingham, AL 35205, (205) 933-9000. The Doubletree is holding a block of rooms for those attending the conference. Guest rooms are being provided at the group rate of $124 per night (plus tax) for one to four persons. Reservations should be made by February 14, 2017 to guarantee availability. After that date, reservations will be taken only as rooms are available. The Doubletree Birmingham is adjacent to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and our Southside district, a vibrant area of dining, shopping, and night life.

 

Travel Directions to Birmingham and to the Doubletree Hotel:

          Birmingham is served by the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, located less than 15 minutes from downtown. The Doubletree has a free shuttle from the Airport to the hotel. It does not run on a set schedule, but if, upon arrival, you call the hotel (205-933-9000) they will either send it or let you know when it will be there. Taxi fare from the airport is about $15-20. All of the major car rental companies serve the airport.

          For those travelling by car: Birmingham is located at the intersection of Interstates 65 and 20/59. For those travelling West/South on I-20/59 or coming from the Airport: Follow Airport Blvd to I-20/59 West/South. Follow the Interstate to exit 126-A. Exit to the right onto Highway 31 South/Highway 280. Continue in the left lane to Highway 31 South, which is the Red Mountain Expressway. Follow 31 South to the 8th Avenue exit. Turn right at the bottom of the exit ramp and follow 8th Avenue South to 20th Street. The Doubletree Hotel is located on the corner of 20th Street and University Blvd (8th Avenue).

For those travelling East/North on I-20/59. Take the I-65 South exit, following 65 to the 4th Avenue South exit, which is a one-way street. Follow 4th Avenue South to 20th Street. Turn right and follow 20th street four blocks to University Blvd. 

For those travelling into town south in I-65, exit 4th Avenue South (a one-way street), following it to 20th Street. Turn right on 20th and travel four blocks. The Doubletree is located on the corner of 20th Street and University Blvd.

For those coming into town North on I-65, take the University Blvd exit and follow it to 20th St. The Doubletree is on that corner.
