- Organ History. This is an on-line
tutorial that should be re-named "Introduction to Organ History."
Take a look at it, and let me know what you think.
- OHS Pipe
Organ Database. This link will take you to the home page of the
Organ Historical Society's Pipe Organ Database which, to be sure,
you could also reach by going to the OHS home page using the link on
the right. Because establishing the computer database and creating the
web site inferface was my Sabbatical project during the academic year
2004-2005, I am bold enough to suggest that you just go straight there!
Check it out, search for pipe organs you have seen heard, or played,
and send us an update. The forms for doing that are all right there,
so you can just click away!
- Rebuilt, Relocated, Replaced, Recycled
The History of the Organs in The First United Methodist Church of Birmingham, Alabama.
There's nothing much more to say here. These pages give a non-technical history
of the organs in the church, based on primary sources located in the church archives.
For the organ geeks who want the technical information, some of the pages allow
a digression into arcane matters such as ranks, chest types, stoplists, and the
occasional look at some of the documents. In other words, something for everyone;
read it and enjoy a look at the past.
- Organ Tour 2000France.
A quick look, photographs, for the most part, at a study tour I led
in June, 2000. We visited a great many churches, a winery, Versailles,
and so many good restaurants that we lost count. Enjoy the pictures!
- Organ Tour 2003Germany.
These pages describe another organ study tour that I developed. In these
pages, you'll find information about the organs in addition to the pictures.
Even better, you'll read comments both by me and by some other participants.
Different viewpoints are always better!
- Birmingham-Southern College.The institution's
web site. You really should check it out if you haven't done so already.
- All about me! All performers
have healthy egos, of course, so I thought it would be important here
to let you learn a little more about me! This link will take you to
a page where your curiosity will be satisfied, and my ego will be thoroughly
stroked. Really I love it, so take a look!
